On June 15, the Northwestern Settlement Emerging Leaders Board hosted the Spring Smash event, their first fundraiser supporting Settlement programs. Guests enjoyed hearty bites, refreshing cocktails, networking with friends and colleagues, and a primer on pickleball, America’s fastest growing sport! Turnout was great, with many attendees testing their skills by participating in an on-the-spot pickleball tournament.
The event raised over $10,000 to support the vital services the Settlement provides for our neighbors, scholars, and community members, as well as a pickleball court for our summer camp and after school programs.
As a new auxiliary board of the Northwestern Settlement, the Emerging Leaders Board aims to diversify the voices heard around the Northwestern Settlement table, aspires to expand the Settlement's reach, and helps provide resources and skills to disrupt generational poverty within our communities.
