On Tuesday, October 10, Northwestern Settlement CEO Carole Wood and Board Chair Amy O'Donnell attended the Chicago Chapter Charities Foundation event, Power & Purpose 2023, for which Wood served as Co-Chair. The annual event is dedicated to engaging the collective power and purpose of business, civic, and philanthropic leaders to improve the lives of the African-American community. The event welcomed an esteemed group of panelists for an important conversation about anxiety, violence, and mental health, and the impact the convergence of each of these issues is having on our communities.
The WGN Evening News Anchor, Micah Materre, moderated the panel, which included commentary from the best-selling author, Robin Smith; Angela Ferrell-Zabala, Executive Director of Moms Demand Action; and Arne Duncan, Managing Partner at Emerson Collective and former U.S. Secretary of Education.
